Maruti Suzuki India Limited would be really happy that the global hatchback developed by Suzuki Motors that has the codename YL7 is all set to be showcased to the world during the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo in Noida in February. Maruti Suzuki will be introducing this car in India as the replacement of the not so successful A star and the YL7 hatchback has been christened as Celerio. The car will be making its world debut in India and Maruti Suzuki will be making sure that the car gets a rousing first appearance in India. In fact, there is no better platform to showcase a new car to the world than the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The present A Star that is being sold in the international markets also carries the name Celerio in a few markets. In India, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be the replacement for both Estillo as well as A star. The Estillo has been discontinued by Maruti Suzuki owing to very poor sales.
The Celerio will be coming to India with a 1 litre K series engine that you find under the hood of the Alto K10. It will be offering a maximum power of 67 bhp along with a peak torque of 90 Nm at 3500 rpm. The Alto K10 offers an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 20 kmpl and the Celerio is also expected to offer the same mileage. The Alto 800 and Alto K10 would be the other hatchbacks that Maruti Suzuki will be sold along with the soon to be launched Celerio hatchback.
